Organization (technical definition)
A stable, formal social structure that takes resources from the environment and processes them to produce outputs.
Routines
Precise rules, procedures, and practices that have been developed to cope with virtually all expected situations; sometimes called standard operating procedures.
Organizational Politics
The struggle for resources, competition, and conflict within every organization due to differing viewpoints on how resources, rewards, and punishments should be distributed.

A powerful restraint on change, especially technological change; often resists changes in basic assumptions.
Organizational Environment
The external surroundings of an organization from which it draws resources and to which it supplies goods and services; organizations have a reciprocal relationship with it.

The use of information systems to help managers identify external changes that might require an organizational response.
Disruptive Technologies
Technologies and resulting business innovations that radically change the business landscape and environment, often by substituting existing products.

The shape or form of an organization; influences the type of information systems found within the firm.
