Microaerophiles

Growth occurs only where O2 is low, but not absent

Sediment

growth pattern of obligate anaerobes in liquid culture, where they settle at the bottom away from oxygen.

Pellicle

Growth pattern of obligate aerobes, where a film is formed on the surface of the liquid.

Turbid

Growth pattern of facultative anaerobes, where the liquid appears cloudy due to growth throughout the medium.

Commonly found in the large intestine, a part of the normal flora. Pathogenic strains are associated with food poisoning. Facultative anaerobe

Clostridium sporogeneses

Doesn’t produce toxins, forms a mutualistic relationship with host. Has a bad smell. Obligate anaerobe
