What causes inflammation in cholecystitis and cholelithiasis?
An obstruction, gallstone, or tumor prevents bile from leaving the gallbladder, causing trapped bile to act as an irritant.

Female gender, Native American or white ethnicity, obesity, pregnancy, diabetes, multiparous women, and use of birth control.
