Independent Variable
The variable you purposely change in your experiment
Dependent Variable
The variable you measure in your experiment
Control Variable
The variable that you keep the same in your experiment to ensure a fair test
Correlation
The relationship between the variables
Evaluation
Looking back at your experiment results the identifying the errors
Fair test
A test where only the independent variable can affect the dependent variable
Hypothesis
An idea which you have that explains certain facts you can test
Validity
The suitability of the experiment to test your hypothesis
Reliable
Data that can be repeated many times, resulting with the same answers
Prediction
A statement where you write what you think might happen in your experiment
Quantitive data
Data that can be recorded in numbers and values
Qualitative data
Data that is recorded in words
Discrete data
Data that can only be recorded in certain whole numbers or values
Continuous data
Data that can be recorded in any value and is not restricted to specific values.
Experiment
An investigation which will provide evidence for or against your hypothesis
Line of best fit
A straight or curved line on a scatter grap, showing the correlation between two variables; roughly passing through the middle of the data points.
Anomalous results
Data points that are out of the expected range, pointed out with a circle
Conclusion
A summary of what you learned from your experiment
