How do you show events are mutually exclusive?

Two venn diagrams will be present with no overlap.

What is a sample space?

The set of all possible outcomes

What is an experiment?

A repeatable process that gives rise to multiple outcomes

What is an event?

One or more of the outcomes from am experiment

What is the law of probability if a and b are independent?

P(A/B) = P(A)

What are the laws of probability if the events are mutually exclusive?

P(AnB) =0

P(AUB)=P(A)+P(B)

What are general formulas for probability?

P(AUB)=P(A) + P(B)-P(AnB)

P(A/B)=P(AnB)/P(B)
