Blue Supergiant
A massive, hot, and highly luminous star formed when a very heavy star runs out of core hydrogen and its core contracts and heats up intensely.
Red Giant
A large, cool star formed near the end of a low-to-medium mass star's life when its core runs out of hydrogen, contracts, and heats up, causing the outer layers to expand and cool.
Red Supergiant
An exceptionally massive, large, and cool star formed when a high-mass star runs out of core hydrogen, causing its outer layers to expand on an enormous scale.
White Dwarf
A small, dense, faint star that is the leftover, burning-out core of a dead low-to-medium mass star.
Supernova
A colossal stellar explosion that occurs at the end of a massive star's life cycle, releasing massive amounts of energy and radiation.
Neutron Star
An extremely small, incredibly dense star made almost entirely of packed neutrons, formed from the collapsed core of a massive star after a supernova.
Black Hole
An object with gravity so intense that nothing, not even light, can escape it, formed from the collapsed core of an extremely massive star after a supernova.
Black Dwarf
The theoretical final stage of a low-mass star, created when a white dwarf cools down completely and no longer emits heat or light.
Yellow Star (Main Sequence)
A stable, mid-sized star (like our Sun) that is actively fusing hydrogen into helium in its core to release energy.
Planetary Nebula
A glowing cloud of gas and dust shed by a dying, low-to-medium mass star at the end of its red giant phase.
