-endogenous metabolism (HgB and bile pigments)

-oxidation product of urobilinogen

Uroerythrin

Pink (brick dust)
-more when urates are present

Pale or colorless

Very dilute urine
-increased fluid intake, polyuria, diuretics, diabetes

Dark yellow/ Amber

Normal is concentrated urine,
Abnormal is bilirubin, more orange, produces yellow foam when shaken

Pink

Small amounts of RBC’s in urine
