Assertiveness Vs. Cooperativeness
Subordinate goals:
Vision compels people to overcome conflict and cooperate. Leadership "substitute"
Mediation
allowing third party to help with disputes (both parties have to consent)
Arbitration
Both parties have to attend and the arbiter is usually a retired judge. Very close to rules in a court room. The arbiter will come to an agreement if the parties don't.
Negotiation
- Distributive approach: "fixed pie" win-lose exchange
- Integrative approach: "win-win approach" expand the pie
