Electric Current
The rate of flow of electrons in a conductor, measured in Amperes (A).
Ampere (A)
The SI unit of electric current, defined as 1 Coulomb per second (1 A = 1 C/s).
Electric Current Formula
I = Q/t, where I is the electric current, Q is the charge, and t is the time.
Direct Current (DC)
Electric current that flows in a single direction with a steady voltage, used for powering devices and charging batteries.
Alternating Current (AC)
Electric current that periodically changes direction, commonly used for household and office equipment.
Electrical Resistance
The obstruction offered to the flow of electric current by a conductor, denoted by R and measured in Ohms (Ω).
Ohm's Law
States that the voltage across a conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through it, with constant physical conditions.
Electrical Power Formula
P = IV, where P is power, I is current, and V is voltage.
Power Dissipation
The process by which an electrical component converts electrical energy into heat energy, often described with the formula P = I^2R.
Resistor Color Codes
A system of colored bands used to indicate the resistance value and tolerance of resistors.
