What is the 1st rule of delegation?
The nurse must assess the client, and the client must be stable with the expected outcome.
What is the 2nd rule of delegation?
The task is client specific (and if needed again in the future must be delegated by the nurse a separate time).
What is the 3rd rule of delegation?
The nurse must properly educate the HCA on the task.
What is the 4th rule of delegation?
The HCA must understand the task and they must accept it (the HCA can refuse).
What is the 5th rule of delegation?
The task must be in the care plan, the job description, and the employer policy.
What is the 6th rule of delegation?
The nurse must supervise the HCA's performance of the task. They will monitor during the procedure, then assess the outcome of the task.
