Postpartum pain, after pains, perineal PO

Give with good, check nsaid allergy or bleeding risk

Lortab (hydrocodone/acetimenophin)

Moderate to severe pain when nsaid inadequate PO

Monitor for sedation if breastfeeding do not exceed daily acetaminophen daily limit

Acetaminophen (Tylenol)

Mild to moderate post partum pain, fever reduction PO/PR/IV monitor daily use do not exceed 4000 mg/dat from all sources

Hurricane Spray (Benzocaine, antipyrine)

Temporary topical numbing for perineal discomfort Topical Spray. Use on intact skin only warn about bluish lips

Collage (Docusate)

Stool softener postpartum constipation PO safe in breastfeeding takes 1-2 days to work

Senna-S

Stimulate laxatives, especially with opioids use PO short term use might cause cramping. Short term use on li may cause cramping

Hydrocortisone cream 1%

Anti inflammatory for hemorrhoidal perineal itching. Thin film short course, do not apply to open episiotomy

Tucks Pads (with Hazel)

Astringent soothing for perineum and hemorrhoids. TOPICAL PAD safe for repeated use
