Ring for Ring Stand
Holds glassware or equipment to a ring stand
Forceps
Like tweezers, used for picking up small items (Don’t call them tweezers.)
Test tube tong
Used to handle test tubes - to heat up, move, or place
Bunsen Burner
Produces a flame, used to heat up or sterilize
Clay triangle
Used when crucibles are being heated over a Bunsen burner
Beaker tong
Used to pick up beakers (generally hot beakers)
Wire mesh w/ clay center
Used when using a Bunsen burner - glass shouldn’t be heated directly over the flame, so the wire mesh is used between the flame and the glassware for protection
Striker
Ignition - used for Bunsen burners
Rubber hose
Used to transport liquids or gases
Test tube clamp
Holds test tubes to a stand
Buret clamp
Holds burets to a stand
Crucible Tong
Used for picking up crucibles or holding them over heat
Test tube rack
Used to store test tubes
Scoopula
Used to pick up powders
Beaker
Holds chemicals for mixing, stirring, heating, or disposal - not used for measurements!
Graduated Cylinder
Measures liquids or solutions
Erlenmeyer Flask
Holds chemicals for mixing, stirring, heating up… Not used for measurements!
Test Tube
Holds chemicals for heating up or analysis, can also be used with a rubber stopper for chemical storage
Evaporation dish
Used when evaporating solutions
Stir rod
Used to stir chemicals
Watch glass
Can be used for evaporation, as a weigh dish, to heat substances, or to cover a beaker
Distilled Water Bottle
Holds distilled water. Distilled water is the steam from water that has been boiled in order to separate it from its impurities.
Ring Stand
Holds up equipment and glassware. Used in conjunction with ring, buret clamp, test tube clamp, etc…
Hot Plate
Used to heat liquids or solutions that are in a beaker or Erlenmeyer flask
Balance
Measures the mass of substances
Test Tube brush
Used to clean test tubes
Apron
Protects clothing and body against chemical spills
Plastic Weigh Boat
Holds substances when measuring the mass on a balance
