What does the Dalton atomic model look like??
Just a ball— it’s not special
What does the Thompson atomic model look like?
A circle with negative dots in them
What does the rutherford atomic model look like
It looks like a crazy galaxy thing with a circle in the middle
What does the rutherford-bohr atomic model look like
Like a circle with a bunch of more circles circling it
What does the Lewis Dot/ Lewis diagram look like
A circle with element in the middle, with up to 8 dots around them
What are the four chemical families?
Alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, halogens, Noble/inert gases
What are the characteristics of the four chemical families?
Alkali metals: soft, shiny, silver-colored metals with low melting points and low densitieshighly reactive and strong reducing agents.
Alkaline earth metals: relatively soft, have low densities, and are good conductors of electricity, moderately reactive
Halogens: highly reactive, nonmetallic, not really conductive
Noble/inert gases: colorless, odorless, and monatomic, having very low chemical reactivity due to full valence electron shells, and possessing low melting and boiling points
What’s the difference between groups/families and periods?
Periods are sorted the long way, groups/families group the chemical families
What are valence electrons?
Electrons in the last shell
What elements in the periodic table are metalloids
5, 14, 32, 33, 51, 52, 85
