Erosion
The wearing away of the land by different physical agents such as wind, running water, moving ice, waves, gravity.
Weathering
The breakdown of rocks in situ (where they are). It does not involve the removal of rock material. There are three types: mechanical, chemical and biological.

Angle the layer of rock is at versus the horizontal

A fracture in the rock where movement has taken place
