What are Ethical Approaches?
Different philosophical frameworks used to analyze and solve moral dilemmas.
What is Consequentialism?
An approach that judges the rightness of an action based entirely on its final outcome or consequences.
What is Duty/Rule Based ethics?
An approach where actions are judged right or wrong based on following strict moral rules, regardless of the outcome.
What is Virtue Based ethics?
An approach focused on the moral character and goodness of the person taking the action.
What are Ethical Concepts?
Fundamental moral principles used to guide decision-making in biological research.
What is Beneficence?
The commitment to doing good and maximizing benefits for others.
What is Integrity in ethics?
Actively committing to honesty, transparency, and reporting all facts and data truthfully.
What is Non-Maleficence?
The core duty to do no harm, or to minimize harm as much as possible.
What is Justice in ethical terms?
The fair, equitable, and equal distribution of benefits, risks, and access to resources.
What does Respect mean in ethics?
Valuing the intrinsic worth, autonomy, diversity, and choices of living organisms.
