Types of Thunderstorms
Single cell, multi-cell and squall line, and supercell
Single cell
Occurs late afternoon to early evening (20-30 minutes)
Multi-cell Cluster and Squall line
Several storms connected at different stages. Formed in front of cold fronts and can last several hours. (Produces hail greater than Âľ of an inch with wind greater than 57 mph)
Supercell
More severe then cluster thunderstorms but similar. Has a rotation called the mesoyclone
