Why do metallic substances have a high melting point

Due to the strong nondirectional electrostatic attraction (metallic bonding) it takes a lot of heat energy to overwhelm the bonds holding the atoms in place.

Yes! due to the strong nondirectional electrostatic attraction (metallic bonding) when pressure is applied to the 3D lattice the delocalised electrons move to another cation and maintain bonding. This allows the metal to be reshaped and not shattered.

Free moving electrons or charges are necessary for a substance to conduct electricity. Due to the delocalised electrons being able to freely flow these substances are able to conduct electricity.
