Frequency Table

a way of organizing data that shows how many times each value or item occurs

Relative Frequency

shows the part (or percent) of the whole set of data points

Cumulative Frequency

shows the running total of data points as it goes down the table

Binning

assuming an interval for your frequency table (i.e, a 5-point bin = an interval containing five whole numbers)

Qualitative Data

consists of values that can be placed into nonnumerical categories

Quantitative Data

represent counts or measurements

Histogram

a bar graph for quantitative data categories; the bars have a natural order (ascending or descending) and the bar widths have a specific meaning (usually interval)

Line Chart

shows the data value for each category as a dot, and the dots are connected with lines; for each dot, the horizontal position is the center of the bin it represents (x value) and the vertical position is the data value for the bin (y value).
