Occupational Safety
deals with understanding the causes of accidents at work and ways to prevent unsafe act and unsafe
conditions in any workplace.
Occupational Health
is a broad concept which explains how the different hazards and risks at work may cause an illness and emphasizes that health programs are essential in
controlling work-related and/or occupational diseases.
Occupational Hygiene
discusses the identification, evaluation, and control of physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic hazards.
OSH Standards
mandatory rules on occupational safety and health promulgated pursuant to Article 162, Book IV of the Labor Code of the Philippines
PURPOSE OF OSH STANDARDS
AIM TO PROVIDE AT LEAST THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE DEGREE OF PROTECTION THAT MUST BE AFFORDED TO EVERY WORKER IN RELATION TO THE WORKING CONDITIONS AND DANGERS OF INJURY, SICKNESS OR DEATH THAT MAY ARISE BY REASON OF THE WORKER’S OCCUPATION.

Hazard
Anything (source,situation,act) with the potential to cause harm. Harm including ill health and injury, damage to property, plant, products or the environment, production losses or increased liabilities.
