magnet
A magnet is a special kind of object that can pull things made of metal, like paperclips.
attract
To attract means to pull things closer together, like how a magnet pulls metal objects toward itself.
repel
To repel means to push away or force something to move away from another object, like how a magnet can push away another magnet of the same kind.
magnetic force
Magnetic force is an invisible force produced by magnets. It is the power that allows magnets to attract (pull closer) or repel (push away) certain materials, especially metals like iron and nickel. This force is responsible for the way magnets work.
north pole
It is the part that usually points towards the North when you let it hang freely. This is where the magnet pulls strongest.
south pole
It is the opposite end from the north pole, and it works the same way to attract or repel other magnets.
nonmagnetic
Describes objects or materials that do not have magnetic properties; they cannot be attracted to a magnet. Examples include plastic, wood, and rubber, which do not respond to a magnet's forces.
design
The process of creating something new or improving something that already exists. It involves planning and thinking about how an object or idea will look, work, and feel.
tool
An object that helps us do a specific job or task. Tools can be simple, like a hammer or a screwdriver, or complex, like a computer or a machine. They make work easier by allowing us to apply force, make things, or fix problems.
