Berlin Conference
(1884-1885) a meeting where European country representatives divided portions of Africa up amongst themselves without asking African leaders if they could. This was significant because this lead to the colonization and exploitation of Africa.

The British government's military rule of India. It was significant because it lead to major changes in India but it also lead to the decline of India as they fought for independence.

Opium Wars (the outcome for China as a result)
The two Opium Wars happened in 1839-1842 and 1856-1860 and they happened because Britain was trading illegal drugs into China so Britain fought back. This ended in the Treaty of Nanking (Britain takes control of Hong Kong) and forcibly opening trade ports.
