Broadcast Network
A program supplier to between 200 and 230 affiliated and/or owned local television stations.
Affiliation Agreement
A contract allowing a television network to supply programming to a local station/affiliate.
DMA
Designated Market Area, a term used to define a television market.
First Run Syndication
Programming that makes its original broadcast on the local station, such as game and daytime talk shows.
Off-network Syndication
Programming that is syndicated to local stations after it has been produced for 100 episodes, allowing multiple broadcasts.
Paid Programming
A block of air time sold to a third party to promote and sell products, often seen as infomercials.
Network Supplied Programming
Includes content such as sports, prime time entertainment, national news, and late night shows provided by the network to local stations.
Local Station Supplied Programming
Primarily features local news, local high school sports, and public affairs programming.
Syndicated Programming
Programming licensed by third party producers to local stations for barter of commercial times.
Commercial Inventory
The amount of commercial advertising time available in a programming segment, typically sold to advertisers.
