what is the equation for anaerobic respiration in animal and in yeast
In animals :
Glucose → Lactic acid + Energy
In yeast (fermentation):
Glucose → Ethanol + Carbon dioxide + Energy
Aerobic respiration equation ?
glucose -----→ + oxygen ------→ carbon dioxide + water + Energy
What is Respiration?
Respiration is the process by which energy is released from food by all living cells.
There are two types of respiration name and explain each.
The two types of respiration are Aerobic respiration and Anaerobic respiration
Aerobic respiration- This is the process of breaking down glucose using oxygen to release energy. It also takes places in the Mitochondria and produces crbon dioxide, and water.
Anaerobic Respiration
This is the process of breaking down glucose without oxygen, producing less energy than aerobic respiration.
CXC-Type Question:
Explain the role of ATP in respiration and how it is formed from ADP.
Answer:
During respiration, energy is released from glucose. This energy is used to convert adenosine diphosphate (ADP) into adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP stores energy in small "packets" and releases it when the body needs it for activities like movement, growth, and cell repair.
Give three reasons why it is advantageous to store energy in small packets
Energy is released only when necessary;
Only as much energy as is needed is used;
energy is released rapidly when it is needed.
Each molecule of ATP acts as a little ‘packet’ of energy. The energy can be stored and used later when needed. There are many advantages of storing and using energy in small packets such
The energy can be released from ATP wherever and whenever it is required by a cell
The energy can be released rapidly
The energy can be used to drive many different chemical reactions rapidly.
Energy can be stored as ATP in one part of a cell and transported and used elsewhere without causing reactions in between
Respiration or cellular respiration occurs in a series of steps, each of which is catalysed by enzymes. The overall process can be summarised in words or by the respiration equation below:
glucose + oxygen --—> energy + carbon dioxide + water
Question:
Explain the differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration in plant and animal cells, including their products.
Aerobic respiration happens in both plant and animal cells when oxygen is present. It uses glucose and oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water, and energy (ATP).
Anaerobic respiration occurs when oxygen is not available.
In animal cells, glucose is broken down into lactic acid and energy.
In plant cells, glucose is broken down into ethanol, carbon dioxide, and energy.
Distinguish between aerobic and anerobic respiration. list 4 of each
Aerobic respiration -
uses Oxygen
In plants and animal cells water and carbon dioxide are waste product
Relases large amount of energy
products are always inorganic Eg : carbon dioxide and water
occurs in the mitochondria of cells
While for Anaerobic respiration
does not use oxygen
*In ANIMAL cells lactic acid is the waste prouduct and in PLANT ethanol and carbon dioxide are waste product
Relases small amount of energy
The product are variable at least one is always organic Eg ethoanl, lactic acid and methane
occurs in the cytoplasm
