Development
People’s economic growth, along with the growth of their basic needs like education, health, lifestyle, etc. Main aim is to update as per the demand of time.
National Development
A country’s ability to enhance the living standards of its residents through improvements in living standards, basic needs provisions, and increased per capita income.
Developed Countries
Countries that have higher income. The income of a country reflects the income of the citizens.
National Income
The sum of the total value of a country’s goods and services produced in a year. It is not ideal for comparing different countries due to varying population rates.
Per Capita Income
Also called average income, it is a country's total earnings divided by the whole population and it shows the living standard of the citizens of the country.
Net Attendance Ratio
The total number of children in the age group from 14 years attending school from the total percentage of children in the same age group.
Literacy Rate
The total number of people above 7 years who can write, read, and understand. A high literacy rate indicates a developed state.
Infant Mortality Rate (IMR)
The total number of children that die in one year of age as a proportion of 1000 births in a year. It reflects the efficiency of health facilities.
Human Development Index (HDI)
Prepared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this index publishes an annual report of human development with parameters like per capita income, literacy rate, and durability of a person’s life.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Measured to assess adults who are undernourished by calculating weight (kg) divided by the square of the height. A value less than 18.5 indicates undernourishment, and more than 25 indicates obesity.
Public Facilities
Facilities provided by the government like schools, transportation, electricity, hospitals, residences, community halls, etc., which are crucial for a country's development.
Sustainable Development
Development that meets the needs of today’s generation without affecting the environment and uses non-renewable resources wisely.
Average Income
Basic criteria for development because it reflects a person's earnings and provides insight into the standard of living.
