physics
is the study of matter energy and the interactions between them it helps us understand natural phenomena from motion to electricity and even the structure of atoms
Science
Is all about asking questions and finding answers scientists study everything around us from plants and animals to space and energy did you experiments make discoveries and help solve big problems without it we wouldn't have medicine electricity or even internet
Measurement
Foundational tool in physics helping us describe the world around us used in cooking driving health; ensures accuracy in science and daily ensures accuracy in science and daily tasks; it's determining an object's size length mass or other property it compares with international standards for accuracy it must yield the same result globally
Unit
Is a standard quantity used to measure physical properties
Scientific notation
Expresses very large or small numbers easily move decimal to form one non zero digit
Conversion factor
The equivalent amount of a single measurement by using the equivalent amount of unit
Accuracy
The closeness of a measurement to the true or accepted value; it combines both random and systematic error
Precision
The closest of repeated measurements to each other
Systematic error
Consistent deviation from true value often caused by equipment calibration issues
Random error
Unpredictable variations caused by observer limitations or environmental changes
Parallax error
a type of measurement error that occurs when the position of an object is viewed from different angles, causing it to appear shifted from its actual position
Significant figures
Reflects the precision of a measurement they help scientists communicate how precise and how a trustworthy a number is it's directly connected to accuracy and precision more of it usually mean higher position correctly using them can improve accuracy and calculated results
Rule 1
All non-zero digits are significant
Rule 2
All the zeros between non-zero digits are significant no matter where the decimal point is
Rule 3
Leading zeros are not significant
Rule 4
The zeros after the last non-zero number are not significant
Rule 5
Trailing zeros in a number with decimal point are significant
Infinite
Exact numbers have ___ number of significant figures
Not significant
For a number in scientific notation 10 and x are
