if some usable power exists but level flight cannot be maintained, that power may be utilized to effect a landing or minimize rate of descent enroute to a suitable landing site for autorotation.
Pilots may consider using continuous function of the ignition switch until landing is assured
Malfunction of the Fuel Control System (Overspeed)
If the fuel control system malfunction causes an increase in power (overspeed):
Twist grip — reduce until NR/N2 are in normal range
Collective/TG — coordinate
LASAPo
WARNING
N1 decreasing below 51% will cause engine flame out.
NOTES
An overspeed may result in an EEC Failure
Pilots may consider using the continuous function of the ignition switch until landing is assured.
Malfunction of the Fuel Control System (Underspeed)
If the fuel control system malfunction causes an decrease in power (underspeed):
Collective — Lower to maintain NR
MAN/NOR switch — MAN
Twist grip — slowly rotate towards MAX
Collective/TG — coordinate
LASAPo
WARNING
Rapid movement of the throttle in MAN may result in engine over temp, over torque, overspeed, or engine surge
N1 decreasing below 51% will cause engine flame out
NOTES
Pilots may consider using the continuous function of the ignition switch until landing is assured.
Engine RGB Chip
Reduce power
check for 2ndry indications
If 2ndry indications exist:
LASAPo
The use of CHIP BURNER switch when the relative oil pressure is below limits is prohibited
If no 2ndry indications:
CHIP BURNER — Activate and release
If msg does not extinguish or on 4th ENG RGB CHIP msg:
LASAPo
NOTES
The CHIP BURNER switch shall not be used to suppress a chip caution light when A/c is on the ground
the CHIP BURNER can be activated 3x per flight
Engine AGB Chip
Reduce power
LASAPo
NOTES
CHIP BURNER is not available w/ an ENG AGB CHIP
Inadvertent Engine Shutdown/Rapid Rise in ITT on Deck
Twist grip — OFF
IGN Switch — OFF
GEN switch — OFF
STARTER pushbutton — press and hold until ITT decreases to normal range
Fuel panel switches — OFF/CLOSED
CAUTION
attempting to immediately restart an engine or returning the TG to IDLE, after an inadvertent S/D may result in engine damage
Transmission Malfunction
If failure is imminent:
Land Immediately
If failure is not imminent:
Reduce power
monitor transmission params
LASAPo
WARNING
possible indications of imminent transmission failure may include:
yaw attitude excursions w/ no control input
an increase in power required for a fixed collective setting
increased noise
increased vibrations
or, abnormal fumes
NOTE
Transiting at a min power required A/s and low altitude may permit a quick flare and immediate landing in the event of an imminent transmission failure
Transmission Chip
If XSMN CHIP msg is illuminated:
Check for 2ndry indications
If 2ndry indications exist:
Transmission Malfunction EP — Perform
The use of CHIP BURNER switch when relative oil pressure is below limits is prohibited
If no 2ndry indications:

TRansmission Malfunction EP — Perform
NOTES
The CHIP BURNER switch shall not be used to suppress a chip caution light when A/c is on the ground
the CHIP BURNER can be activated 3x per flight
Flickering or intermittent CHIP indications should be considered a singular chip event
Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust in a Hover
Twist grip — IDLE
cyclic — eliminate drift
collective — increase to cushion the landing
CAUTION
a slight rotation to the right can be expected on T/D
Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust in Cruise Flight
Collective — Lower to eliminate yaw
A/s — adj to reach suitable landing site
On reaching the point of intended landing:
autorotate
Twist grip — OFF prior to T/D
NOTE
an increase in power necessitates an increase in speed to prevent the helicopter from excessive yaw
Tail Rotor Chip
Reduce POwer
CHIP BURNER switch — activate and release
If the msg does not extingush oron 4th TR BOX CHIP msg:
LASAPo
WARNING
Be prepared for complete loss of tail rotor thrust
High power settings may result in tail rotor gearbox failure
NOTES
The CHIP BURNER switch shall not be used to suppress a chip caution light when A/c is on the ground

Affected SERVO switch — OFF
LASAPo
CAUTION
pull-up maneuvers and bank angles beyond 25 degrees may result in excessive flight control loads
NOTES
Tail rotor pedals are not boosted when the hydraulic system No. 1 fails
Rapid power changes w/ 1 SERVO off can result in an excessive yaw that may not be controlled w/ unboosted pedals
Unboosted pedals may be insufficient to counteract right yaw w. strong right crosswinds
