What is the reciprocal relationship between two numbers whose product equals 1?
They are multiplicative inverses; each is the reciprocal of the other (e.g., 2 and 1/2).
If you multiply a quantity by a factor f, what happens to its reciprocal?
The reciprocal is divided by f (equivalently multiplied by 1/f).
What operation corresponds to increasing by a factor?
Multiplication by that factor.
What operation corresponds to decreasing by a factor?
Division by that factor.
