Worldview
How a person sees and interprets the universe and everything in it.
Prehistory
The period when humans supposedly evolved and when there were no written records.
Moses
A Hebrew lawgiver and prophet of God who recorded Genesis 1:1 and wrote books of Scripture as guided by the Holy Spirit.
Creation Mandate
God's command in Genesis 1:28 calling humans to fill, subdue, and have dominion over the earth.
Artifacts
Physical man-made objects from the past.
Tradition
The passing of information from generation to generation.
Primary sources
Firsthand accounts of history used by historians.
Secondary sources
Historical sources such as an encyclopedia entry, a review of art or literature, or a biography.
Genesis 3:15
A biblical verse that promises God will provide salvation through Jesus Christ.
New Jerusalem
The place where God's original plan to build a just and righteous civilization will be fulfilled.
Enoch
The first city mentioned in the first chapters of Genesis.
Nimrod
A figure described in Genesis 10:10 who had a kingdom, representing an early form of monarchy.
Job Specialization
Occurs when a person devotes his time and talent to a specific type of work that becomes his occupation.
Tubal-cain
A biblical figure described in Genesis 4:22 as a forger of bronze and iron.
Jubal
A biblical figure described in Genesis 4:21 as the father of those who played the lyre and pipe.
Lamech
A biblical figure who put his boast into poetry.
Religion
A system of basic values, beliefs, and behaviors directed in worship to God and lived out in community with other people.
