Titanic

• Origin – Greek; Titans were lawless, powerful giants who once ruled Earth. Cronus was the leader, and he was overthrown by his son, Zeus

• Definition – of enormous strength, size, or power

Arachnid

•  Greek; The word comes from the Greek myth of Arachne, a weaver who challenged Athena to a weaving contest. After it Athena turned her into a spider condemning her to weave forever.  

• Definition: A joint legged animal of the class Arachnia, such as a spider, scorpion, tick, or mite.

martial

•  Origin - Roman; Martial comes from Mars, the god of war, which relates to war. It also relates to the Roman poet Marcus Valerius Martialis who was best known for his 12 books of epigrams. [Ares Greek God of War] 

• Definition - War, Combat or military life

odyssey

•  Origin: Greek, epic poem dealing with Odysseus, in years of vanishing after the Trojan War

• Definition : A long, wandering, and eventful journey filled with many adventures, hardships, and changes.

panic

• Origin - Greek; comes from the name of the Greek god Pan, who was believed to cause humans to run away in irrational fear. He is the god of the wild, shepherds, and music. 

• Definition: a sudden, strong feeling of fear or anxiety that stops you from thinking clearly. 

jovial

• Origin - Roman; From Lovias the meaning of “Jupiter”, the Roman name for Zeus. Often associated with power and celebration. 

•  Definition: cheerful, friendly, and full of happy, good humor. It describes something that has a warm or merry mood, or a social event that feels bright and pleasant.

lethargic

• Origin -  Greek; Comes from River Lethe in the Greek underworld, whose waters made souls forget their past. The Greeks used it to describe someone so drowsy and sluggish they seemed to have drunk this memory-erasing water.

• Definition - feeling very low on energy, sluggish, drowsy, or lacking the motivation to do anything

chronology

• Origin- Greek; comes from two ancient Greek words: chronos and logos. Together the words mean the science or study of tracking time. Chronos is the Greek god of time.

• Definition- The arrangement of events in the sequence that they happened. 

ambrosial

• Origin - Greek; comes from the ancient Greek ambrosios meaning divine or immortal this is in reference to food.  

• Definition- relating  or worthy of the gods or paradise, ( Extremely delicious, excellent)

labyrinthine

• Origin - The word "labyrinth" comes from the ancient Greek myth of the Minotaur at Knossos in Crete

• Labyrinthine is an adjective that means complicated, twisted, or maze-like.
