Structural Isomerism
Substances with the same chemical formula but different structural arrangements of atoms
Hydrogenation Reaction
A reaction in which hydrogen is added to an unsaturated compound, converting it to a saturated compound.
Condensation Polymerization
A reaction where small molecules (monomers) combine to form a large molecule (polymer) with the elimination of a small molecule such as water.
Addition Polymerization
A reaction where monomers simply add together to form a polymer without the loss of any atoms.
Polymer
A large molecule formed by the repeated linking of small monomer units.
Allotrope
Different forms of the same element in the same physical state, exhibiting different physical properties due to different arrangements of atoms.
Alloy
A homogeneous mixture of two or more metals, or a metal and a non-metal, to enhance properties.
Unsaturated Compound
A compound containing at least one carbon-carbon double or triple bond.
Homologous Series
A series of organic compounds with the same functional group, similar chemical properties, and a general formula, where each successive member differs by a CH2 group.
