this committee schedules the games, takes charge of the rules and regulations of the games, assigns officials, conducts the games, and releases official results
awards committee
in charge of prizes and awards. if there is no fund, they will be the ones to look for or solicit prizes and awards such as trophies, medals, or cash
peace and order committee
in charge of the peace and order. this committee will see to it that everything is in order, especially the athletes who will participate.
protest and discipline committee
this committee receives complaints or protests on infractions in the games, calls a meeting, and resolves problems.
elimination tournaments
based on the elimination of the team or individual in each round. after the match, the winner advances to the next round and the loser is either eliminated completely or dropped to some form of a loser's bracket
single elimination
- also called knockout, cup, or sudden death tournament
- used if there are too many participants and the time allotted is not sufficient
- the easiest to organize and the quickest way to declare a winner
- any team that loses once is eliminated, difficult to choose the best participant

double elimination
- one of the fairest types since each entry/team must be defeated twice before being eliminated
- a team losing once has one more chance to advance toward the championship
- one of the more complicated tournaments to show graphically

round robin
- consumes the longest period of competition, the advantage of this is the chance to select the best team.
- each team plays with every other team
- allows players/teams to become better acquainted.
