Residents must receive care that maintains their highest possible health, with a personal care plan made within 48 hours of admission.

Residents must know available services and fees.

Right to Participate in Care

Residents help plan and approve care, know all treatment options, and choose preferred ones.

Right to Make Independent Choices

Residents choose doctors, treatments, daily routines, and community activities without discrimination.

Right to Privacy and Confidentiality

Private communication and confidential personal/medical records.

Right to Dignity, Respect and Freedom

Must be treated respectfully and protected from abuse or neglect.

Right to Security of Possessions

Belongings kept safe; residents control property and finances or assign someone else.

Rights in Transfers and Discharges

Must consent unless transfer is necessary for safety, health, or non-payment.

Right to Complain

Can raise concerns without fear; facility must address them promptly.

Right to Visits

Can have visitors without discrimination based on personal characteristics.

Right to Social Services

Access to counseling, legal, and financial help.
