Species
A group of living organisms that can reproduce and have offspring that can also reproduce.
Example: All domestic dogs belong to the same species.
Adaptation
A trait or behavior that helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment.
Examples include thick fur on polar bears or sharp claws on eagles.
Natural Selection
The process where organisms with helpful traits survive and reproduce more than those without those traits, allowing helpful traits to be passed to the next generation.
Evolution (Change Over Time)
The slow change in species over long periods of time due to natural selection and adaptations.
Fossil Record
The collection of fossils that shows how living things have changed over time and helps scientists understand organisms from long ago.

Arranged in the order in which events happened, from oldest to newest.
