attempted to regulate agricultural production through farm subsidies; ruled unconstitutional in 1936; disbanded after World War II

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)

A federal guarantee of savings bank deposits initially of up to $2500, raised to $5000 in 1934, and frequently thereafter; continues today with a limit of $100,000

1933 National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA)

Created NRA to enforce codes of fair competition, minimum wages, and to permit collective bargaining of workers.

Tennessee Valley Authority Act (TVA)

Relief, Recover, and Reform. one of the most important acts that built a hyro-electric dam for a needed area.

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

regulates stock market

Social Security Act (SSA)

Relief passed in 1935 to provide Americans with retirement benefits. Mandated unemployment and disability insurance. Workers and employers pay into this fund.

Wagner Act

1935, also National Labor Relations Act; granted rights to unions; allowed collective bargaining
