salivary gland enlargement caused by repeated vomiting, which gives the face a chubby appearance

continued vomiting may upset the chemical balance of bodily fluids, including sodium and potassium levels > can result in serious medical complications if unattended including cardiac arrhythmia (disrupted heartbeat) seizures, and renal (kidney) failure, all of which can be fatal > can make women become more fat

anxiety and mood disorders > most evidence indicates that depression follows bulimia and may be a reaction to it

anorexia nervosa: medical consequences > amenorrhea

cessation of menstruation > females has stopped having their monthly period

signs and symptoms: dry skin, brittle hair or nails, sensitive intolerance of cold temperatures, cardiovascular problems, chronically low blood pressure and heart rate

mood disorders > unpleasant thoughts are focus on gaining weight > ritualistic behaviors to rid themselves of such thoughts

OCD > substance abuse is also common in individuals w/anorexia nervosa
