Movement

The ability to detect stimuli in internal and external environments and make appropriate responses.

A permanent increase in size and dry mass by an increase in cell size or cell numbers or both.

Making more of the same kind of organisms

Excretion

The removal of metabolic waste, toxic materials and substance in excess of requirements from an organism.

Nutrition

Taking in materials for growth, energy and reproduction

Metabolism

The chemical reactions taking place in an organism (respiration, photosynthesis)

Autotrophic

Organisms that make their own food using light/ chemical energy

Heterotrophic

Organisms that rely on other organic carbon sources for food.

Classification

Making the identification of living organisms easier as organisms are grouped by the features they have in common

Species

A group of organisms that can breed together and produce fertile offsprings

Dichotomous Keying

A way of identifying an organisms by working though pairs of statements that lead you to its name.

Diagram showing how organisms. are related based on shared, derived characteristics (feathers, hair, scales)

Molecular Analysis

Studying the sequence of amino acids (proteins) or DNA sequences

Organism made up of many cells

Membrane- bound organelles
