Mutually Exclusive Events
Events that have no outcomes in common, meaning they cannot occur at the same time. P(A \text{ and } B) = 0
Independent Events
When one event has no effect on the outcome of another event. For independent events A and B: P(A \text{ and } B) = P(A) \cdot P(B)

Probability of A or B is the sum of their individual probabilities because they have no overlap.
