Why does God make covenants?

To restore the relationship between God and humanity that was damaged by sin.

What is the order of the four major Old Testament covenants?

Noah → Abraham → Moses → David.

What is the easiest way to distinguish the four covenants?

Noah = rainbow; Abraham = descendants, land, blessing; Moses = Law; David = enduring kingdom.

Which covenant is unconditional

Davidic covenant bcuz gods promise of an enduring ddavidic kingdom doesnt depend on davids descendants being perfectly faithful. Also the messiah will come from davids line

Contract vs. Covenant

.A contract is an exchange of goods or services; a covenant is a committed relationship.

Protoevangelium

Means “first Good News.” Found in Genesis 3:15 and is the first promise that evil will eventually be defeated by a Savior.

Gradual Revelation

God reveals His plan little by little over time, gradually preparing humanity for Christ.

Hesed

hebrew word for mercy that expresses gods loving forgiveness for the chosen people

Noahic Covenant

God’s covenant with Noah. Its sign is the rainbow, and God promises not to destroy the earth again by flood.

Abrahamic Covenant

God’s covenant with Abraham. Main promises: descendants, land, and blessing.

Sinai / Mosaic Covenant

God’s covenant through Moses at Mount Sinai. Main feature: the Law and Ten Commandments.

Messiah

Means “anointed one.” The expected future leader chosen by God.

Messianic Hope

THe expetation that god would send a messiah to restore and save his ppl

Easter Vigil

The holy saturday night liturgy celebrating salvation history and christs resurrection

Paschal candle

A large easter candle symbolizing the risen christ

Exsultet

The Easter Proclamation sung or proclaimed during the Easter Vigil.

“O Happy Fault”

Refers to Adam’s sin. It does not mean sin is good; it means God brought the greater good of redemption through Christ out of humanity’s Fall.
