* institution draws up desirable behaviours
* when offender behaves in this way they earn a token
* tokens are exchanged
* good behaviour becomes more desirable

is it effective (OL)

* once reinforce my stops, behaviour tends to disappear
* make prisoners more manageable
* some cases of human rights being used as rewards

Aversion therapy

* strong conditioning needed:
* offenders asked to think about unacceptable sexual fantasies
* a strong unpleasant stimulus is administered
* procedure related until offender associates the arousal and stimulus

is it effective (AT)

* very limited and short term success
* cristidsed as human rights abuse
