Tissue
Group of cells with similar structure and function.
Organ
Group of tissues performing a specific function.
Digestive system
Organ system where organs work together to digest and absorb food.
Enzymes
Biological catalysts with active sites. Specific due to active site shape.
Lock and key model
Substrate fits active site; enzyme catalyses reaction.
Temperature and pH
Affect enzyme activity. Extreme temperature and pH can denature enzymes.
Carbohydrases/amylase
Break carbohydrates/starch into simple sugars.
Proteases
Break proteins into amino acids.
Lipases
Break lipids into glycerol and 3 fatty acids.

Made in liver, stored in gall bladder; neutralises stomach acid and emulsifies fats.
