Tourism Policy
A set of rules, regulations, guidelines, and strategies that provide a long-term framework directly affecting tourism development.
Tourism Planning
The process of gathering and evaluating information to identify current tourism development issues, imagining a desired future state, and choosing alternatives for achieving them.
Tourism Development
The process of improving and building based on plans, generally regarding how tourism is guided, planned, and managed.
RA 9593
Also known as the Tourism Act 2009, these are laws intended for the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Private Sector
Establishments that are not part of the government, including travel agencies, accommodations, attractions, activities, food and beverages, destinations, and the transportation industry.
Public Sector
Entities run by government agencies that implement laws intended for the people, specifically the Filipino people.
Tourism Promotion Board Philippines (TPB Phil)
The marketing arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
TIEZA
Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority; responsible for collecting taxes, including taxes for first class.
DENR
Department of Environment and Natural Resource; focuses on the environment.
NCCA
National Commission for Culture and Arts; responsible for preserving heritage, culture, and arts.
DOH
Department of Health; focuses on health.
DFA
Department of Foreign Affairs; handles the country's foreign relations and provides consular services to the public.
DTI
Department of trade Industry; helps lenders evaluate financial viability and the ability to manage monthly payments.
DOTC
Department of Transportation and Communication; maintains and develops the country's transportation and communication network.
Bureau of Immigration (BI)
Regulates the entry, stay, departure, and deportation of foreign nationals.
Tourism Plan
An output of the tourism planning process consisting of a series of guidelines, directives, and actions for developing a tourism product and attracting a target market.
Tourism Planners
Individuals who carry out seminars, workshops, ocular visits, and interviews with local people to produce lists of potential attractions and identify local development issues.
Local Tourism Issues
Problems identified during planning that have implications for development, such as lack of roads, security problems, and accessibility.
Tourism Supply Components
The essential elements of tourism delivery, which include attractions, accommodation, and food and beverage.
