Delusion
A false, fixed belief held with extraordinary conviction, inconsistent with sociocultural background, and not corrected by logical argument.
Persecutory Delusion
The belief that one is being harmed, harassed, or conspired against, commonly leading to defensive aggression.
Delusion of Grandeur (Grandiose Delusion)
The belief in possessing exceptional abilities or identity, often involving claims of divine or powerful connections.
Delusion of Reference
The belief that neutral events are specifically directed at oneself, resulting in misinterpretation of ordinary occurrences.
Delusion of Infidelity (Othello Syndrome)
A false belief that one’s partner is unfaithful, often leading to stalking or violent behavior.
Nihilistic Delusion
The belief that oneself or parts of one’s body do not exist, often seen in severe depression.
Hypochondriacal (Somatic) Delusion
The false belief of having a serious physical illness despite medical reassurance.
Delusion of Control (Passivity Phenomenon)
The belief that one's thoughts or actions are controlled by external forces.
Erotomanic Delusion
The false belief that someone of higher social status is secretly in love with the individual.
Delusion of Jealousy
Irrational suspicion of infidelity that extends beyond a partner to others, often leading to confrontations.
