Supervision
Personnel must actively watch and direct children's activities at all times.
Field trips
Activities outside the child care program that require additional staff supervision.
Picture form of identification
A verified method of identifying authorized individuals who pick up children.
Instant communication
A means of immediate contact, such as a cellular phone or two-way radio, while transporting children.
Lighting
Must be sufficient (bright enough) to allow for proper supervision of children.
Lifeguard
A certified individual responsible for supervising children in swimming pools or during water activities.
Staff-to-child ratios
The maximum number of children a caregiver can supervise based on their age group.
Transportation log
A record of children being transported, including departure and arrival times, driver signatures, and physical inspections.
Vehicle inspection
An annual check by a mechanic to ensure the vehicle is in proper working order.
Alarm system- in vehicle
An installed system in each vehicle used for transporting children to prevent leaving children inside.
Activity/lesson plans
Written plans of scheduled activities that promote children's development and are shared with families.
Emotionally secure relationships
Building strong and stable connections with caregivers that promote emotional well-being.
Outdoor play
Engaging in physical activities outside, at least twice a day, weather permitting.
Alternative activities
Backup options for play, in case of bad weather.
Meals, snacks, and naptimes
Providing appropriate food and rest times based on the ages of the children and their schedule.
Daily schedule
A structured plan, allowing for flexibility and smooth transitions between activities.
Academic support
Scheduled time for assisting (after schoolers) school-age children with homework or academic tasks.
Electronic media
Not acceptable -under two years old. Limited to educational purposes or physical activity for older children, with a maximum of 2 hours per day.
Infant swings
Limited to 30 minutes of use at a time, and maximum twice a day.
Computer use
Limited to 15 minutes unless it is for academic purposes.
