Difference between Shabbat and Yom Tov Halacha regarding food preparation
On Yom Tov, you can prepare food and then eat it, while on Shabbat, you cannot prepare food and then eat it.
The 6 Malachot allowed for food preparation on Yom Tov
Kneading, slaughtering, carrying, baking, cooking, and lighting a fire.

The law that even though lighting a fire and carrying are not directly food prep, they are used to make food, so they are allowed.
Conditions on when you can do the 6 Malachot on Yom Tov
Only if you run out of time, you can cook with a slight change (Shivni).
If there is an emergency, you can cook normally.
If it tastes better fresh, you can cook with a Shivni.
Rules regarding food preparation for the next day on Yom Tov
Any food preparation done is only allowed for that day. Leftovers can be used the next day.
Permitted actions regarding flames on Yom Tov
You are only allowed to
transfer a flame,
increase a flame,
or ignite a flame.
Prohibited actions regarding flames on Yom Tov
You are not allowed to extinguish a flame
or decrease a flame.
Electric ovens/stoves on Yom Tov
Cannot be used because the electricity is constantly working to keep the oven/stove on.
Gas ovens/stoves on Yom Tov
Allowed to increase flame but not decrease. Oven temperature stays the same the whole Yom Tov.
Lighting candles on the 2nd night of Yom Tov
The flame must be taken from another existing flame.
Eruv Tavshilin
A procedure that allows you to cook on Friday on Yom Tov for Shabbat; it is made Erev Yom Tov.
in order to do Eruv Tavshilin, u must:
Cooked food (e.g., meat, fish, eggs) - k'zayit;
Baked food (e.g., bread, matzah) - k'beitza
Procedure for Eruv Tavshilin
Take 1 cooked and 1 baked food, hold, raise, and make bracha - al airuv.

1st night of Yom Tov: before sunset (+18mins). 2nd night of Yom Tov: after nightfall (1hr after sunset).
