Affiliation

The act of connecting or associating with others, especially during times of stress.

Proximity

Physical closeness or nearness to someone, influencing exposure and enhancing likeability.

Self-disclosure

Sharing intimate information and feelings with another person, leading to increased liking and closeness.

Social exchange theory

A theory that views relationships as a cost-benefit analysis based on rewards, costs, and comparison levels.

Triangular theory of love

Robert Sternberg's theory that love consists of intimacy, passion, and commitment, leading to different forms of love like romantic, companionate, and consummate love.

Bystander effect

The phenomenon where the presence of others reduces the likelihood of individuals helping in an emergency.

Diffusion of responsibility

Feeling less accountable to help in an emergency when others are present.

Aggression

Any action intended to harm another person, influenced by factors like alcohol, discomfort, and frustration.

Social learning theory

Learning aggressive behavior by observing and imitating others, as demonstrated in the Bobo doll studies.

Prejudice

Negative attitudes, beliefs, emotions, or actions towards a particular group of people.

Explicit Prejudice

Openly expressing negative attitudes towards a group.

Symbolic Prejudice

Supporting prejudiced ideas and policies without openly expressing them.

Implicit Prejudice

Unconscious biases learned through exposure and cultural information.
