ATP
Adenosine Triphosphate, is the "energy molecule" of biological processes and the energy in its bonds is used to preform cellular work
ATP synthase
the enzyme complex (found in the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells, and in the plasma membrane of prokaryotic cells) that makes ATP from ADP + Pi
Cellular Respiration
carbohydrate + O2 CO2 + water + ATP; this is the fundamental biochemical reaction that most cells use to convert "food" into cellular energy
Photosynthesis
CO2 + water + sunlight energy carbohydrate + O2; this is the fundamental biochemical reaction performed by green plants to "fix" atmospheric inorganic carbon from carbon dioxide into carbohydrates for use by the cell
Energy Cycle
The complimentary relationship between cellular respiration and photosynthesis, such that the products of one reaction are the reactants of the other, with only incoming sunlight energy and ATP as the ultimate input and output respectively
