Many people are good at talking with others, so they often work in customer service. Recently, more students have become interested in IT and design.

日本の高校生には、コンビニやファストフードのアルバイトが人気だと思います。ほうかごや週末にできるからです。また、将来の夢のために、家でオンラインの仕事をする人も少しずつふえているそうです。 For Japanese high school students, convenience store and fast-food part-time jobs are popular because they can work after school or on weekends. I’ve also heard that more students are starting to do online work to prepare for their future goals.

はい、けっこうちがうと思います。オーストラリアの学校では、自分で授業を選べることが多いです。それに、日本の学校ほど部活がさかんではありません。また、日本では授業の後で教室をそうじすると聞きましたが、オーストラリアではそれをしません。 Yes, I think they're quite different. In Australian schools, we can often choose our own classes. Also, club activities aren't as popular as in Japanese schools. I've heard that in Japan students clean the classroom after lessons, but we don't do that in Australia.

私の学校には色々な校そくがあります。まず、制服を正しく着なければなりません。それから、授業中に携帯電話を使ってはいけません。休み時間以外は、帽子をかぶらなければなりません。また、他の生徒を尊重することも大切な校そくです My school has various rules. First, we must wear our uniform correctly. Also, we can't use mobile phones during class. We have to wear hats except during break time. Respecting other students is also an important school rule.

はい、日本の学校の校そくはとてもきびしいと聞きました。たとえば、髪の色や長さにきびしいルールがあるそうです。それに、靴下の色まで決まっていると聞いてびっくりしました。オーストラリアの学校よりずっときびしいと思います。 Yes, I've heard that Japanese school rules are very strict. For example, there are apparently strict rules about hair color and length. I was also surprised to hear that even sock colors are decided. I think it's much stricter than Australian schools.

日本の学校生活(せいかつ)とオーストラリアの学校生活(せいかつ)と、どちらがいそがしいですか。

日本の学校生活の方がいそがしいと思います。日本の高校生は、学校が終わってから部活をして、それから塾に行く人が多いと聞きました。だから夜遅くまで勉強しなければならないそうです。オーストラリアの高校生も勉強しますが、日本ほどではないと思います。 I think Japanese school life is busier. I've heard that many Japanese high school students do club activities after school and then go to cram school. Apparently they have to study until late at night. Australian high school students also study, but I don't think it's as much as Japan.

日本の高校生はオーストラリアの文化(ぶんか)の何にびっくりするでしょうか。

日本の高校生は、オーストラリア人がとてもリラックスしていることにびっくりすると思います。たとえば、先生にも気軽に話しかけられるし、授業中でも自由に意見が言えます。それに、みんな知らない人にもフレンドリーに話しかけます。日本とはだいぶちがうと思います。 I think Japanese high school students would be surprised by how relaxed Australians are. For example, you can casually talk to teachers and freely express opinions even during class. Also, everyone talks to strangers in a friendly way. I think it's quite different from Japan.
