Hypothesis

A testable prediction of what you think will happen in an experiment

Observations

Facts collected by using your senses or scientific tools

Inferences

Logical explanations or interpretations of those observations

Independent variable (IV)

The factor that the experimenter changes or controls during an experiment (I change)

Dependant variable (DV)

The factor that is measured or observed at the end of the experiment (the result)

Constants

Any factor that is kept the same in an experiment

Control group

The group in an experiment that does NOT receive the independent variable

Experimental group

The group in an experiment that receives the independent variable

Data

Information gathered during an experiment

Line graphs

Show the change of one piece of information as it relates to change in another
