Brain

The braids provides conscious awareness and is involved in all psychological processes. The brain consists of four main regions : occipital lobe, temporal lobe, parietal lobe and frontal lobe.

3
New cards

The Spinal Cord

Transfers messages to and from the brain and the rest of the body. It is also responsible for simple reflex actions, e.q. Putting your hand away from a hot flame.

4
New cards

The Peripheral Nervous System

All nerves and neurons that are not contained in the brain and spinal cord but that run through the body itself

5
New cards

The Somatic Nervous System

Connects the senses, skin and muscles to the Central nervous system. Controls muscle movement and received information from sensory neurons. Also maintains communication between the nervous system and the outside world.

6
New cards

Autonomic Nervous System

Plays a role in homeostasis. Controls vital functions in the body such as breathing, heart rate, digestion, sexual arousal and stress responses.

7
New cards

The Sympathetic nervous system

Part of ANS that Is involved in responses that prepare the body for fight or flight and bodily arousal. In terms on fight or flight scenarios it increases heart rate, blood pressure, etc.
