General George Cluster announced that their was gold in the Black hills. Cluster tells Congress to find a way to end the treaties with the Lakota.

Lakota defeat Cluster’s militia at the Battle. The Militia was attempting to infiltrate.

An agreement was given to tribes that stated that they either sell their land or they would receive no food for the tribe.
Dawes Act
Reservations were split into 160 area sections given to individual Indians. It used the “American Dream” as a way that divided the reservation till there was none.

US troops killed 300 natives and marked the end of the Indian wars. in the massacre 20 medals of valor were given to the 7th Caverly
Indian Boarding Schools
US government kidnapped Native kids. They wanted them to assimilate to white culture and abandoned. Kids then struggled to live a Native life after they were released since they were away.

Wanted to start a new life, escaping The opium wars in china or profiting to the Gold Rush in California.
What was the Chinese Exclusion Act?
It suspended Chinese Immigration for over 60 years and made Chinese prove their employment if they work.
Why did the Knights of Labor dislike the Chinese?
They took many jobs not giving American labor workers work.
How did the Chinese change the economy?
Since they took over many jobs, many other people were left unemployed.
Why didn’t the Dawes Act help Indians?
Indians didn’t have money for farming and didn’t want to do it either.
